FIRST RENDEZVOUS! MAY 1, 2021
***NEW LOCATION*** LAWRENCE CREEK***
4 PM START
Dust in the Wind splashed on Tuesday! Hope we can get her put together in time for Saturday. Predict Wind is showing some pretty high winds….hoping they calm down some. Not my idea of a great season shakedown cruise! The good news is you are welcome to come by car as well. Our Cinco de Mayo RV will be held at the Lamors house, just around the corner from the docks at Lawrence Creek. Thank you, Dever and Andrea for arranging space, etc. and hosting our first RV of 2021.
We begin the season as we ended the last, using caution and following NYS Guidelines. Masks are to be worn at all times when social distancing is not possible. Food items to share should be single serve, packaged, or otherwise presented to avoid handling of utensils, touching, etc. No baskets of chips! Some ideas….. use a shallow cocktail cup for a handful of chips and a dollop of dip, serve things in muffin tins with paper liners, platters with items are ok as long as they are spread apart…you get the idea. Food table is for food only! No sitting or gathering at the food table!
Below is a map and directions both for boats and those traveling by car. Please RSVP to me at 516-817-8778 with name and boat name if you plan to attend by boat. There are a few slips and a neighbors dock. We may need to raft and/or anchor. I do not think that many of us are in the water, but the neighbors are letting us use their area and I’d like to be organized about it and be sure we all fit well and stay out of the way of others.
WOO-HOO! The season begins!!!
See you on the water! _/)_/)_/)
Cinco De Mayo Rendezvous – Saturday, May 1, 2021
Above is a map of Lawrence Creek, Bay Shore. It is the second creek west of Bay Shore Marina.
Approach the creek more from the east, not from the south if you want good water. Proceed along the light blue line until you get to the head of the creek. The large dot in red are some empty slips just south of my boat which will be flying a small cruising club burgee. You can pull into any unoccupied slip for the night. The small red dot is the dock of Bill Wheeler and he would be fine with boats tied up there. Suggest you either raft up going out or through the bow anchor out in the creek and back in, tying stern in (like they do in Europe). You can also anchor in the center at the head of the creek and dingy into my boat.
From the large red dot walk west along Manatuck Lane, then north on Lawrence Lane to house #11. A large burgee will be flying there.
From the small red dot, Bill Wheeler’s home, walk out to the front of the house, then north on Lawrence.
If driving, please park on the east side of Lawrence or at the parking lot at the red dot.
Uno de Mayo, See you then,
Dever & Andrea Larmor
